Glimpse: Quiet (2012), a book by Susan Cain

Sometimes or all times, we introverts feel like an outcast in any given [loud] situation. Maybe it gets fuelled by defending oneself, opposing conformity, a natural desire to shut up, or simply unable to find the rhythm to blend in with people or a practice. It gets so complicated that a disbelief of us grows in the eyes of others. Or worse, a denial by ourselves in speaking out our voice. Each time we plunge into the darkness that is the destination of the path carved out by this disbelief and denial, we get accustomed to the fact that we won't be understood or heard by others, ever. We wait to hear a voice that eventually soothes our minds by telling us that it is good to be different. Quiet can be that voice for us. The speciality of this voice is that it tells us, "it is great to be different."
